Margaret “Peggy” Lemmond Caviness, age 84 of Sanford, passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2011 at Parkview Rest & Retirement in Sanford.

Peggy was born on May 10, 1927 in Lee County, NC to the late Walter Vann Lemmond Sr. and Eula Ansell Lemmond. She was a founding and lifetime member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ in Sanford. She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Caviness in 1999.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Emmanuel United Church of Christ in Sanford with Rev. Richard “Dick” Leaptrott officiating. Burial will follow at Buffalo Cemetery.

She is survived by a brother, Robert Lemmond Sr. of Sanford, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters: Christine L. Crissman, Doris Taylor, Catherine Lemmond and her brothers: Edward “Nick” Lemmond, Bill Lemmond, and Walter Lemmond.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at Miller-Boles Funeral Home in Sanford and at other times at the home of Robert Lemmond Sr., 2100 Hawkins Ave., Sanford.

In lieu of flowers, Peggy asked that memorial contributions be made to Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 1089 Wilkins Dr., Sanford, NC 27330.

    Peggy Lemmond Caviness was an outstanding Christian Lady who spoke gently and kindly to all. Working with her for many years at ‘the bank’, one could always depend on her to exhibit loyalty to her employer and to her co-workers. She was lovely and gracious in all her ways.
